K. WILBOURN - MINDFULNESS
Hello, I'm Karen.
I am a Mindfulness and Compassion teacher and Mental Health First Aider with added training in Mindfulness for Children and Young Adults.
1:1 MINDFULNESS & COMPASSION SESSIONS
I am planning to set up a space in Syston, Leicester, to hold one-to-one mindfulness sessions.
Primarily for those who feel they would like someone to talk to confidentially.
My goal is to help people recognise their difficulties for what they are and to encourage them to discover other ways of thinking, to manage their understanding and responses better. Enabling individuals to cope more effectively as challenges arise, improving their daily lives, and ultimately increasing genuine happiness and productivity.
Through the practice of mindfulness, you can learn to be more present and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your surroundings. This journey can be incredibly enlightening.
I focus on self-confidence and resilience, self-esteem, and support with anxiety and panic attacks. I am a huge advocate of 'The Minfulness Stop Technique', the ability to pause, think, focus, and take a breath before moving forward.
My therapeutic sessions will be 40 minutes long, and I hope to provide this service 1-2 days a week to begin with. MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW SOON - July '25.
During the session, you are able to talk as much or as little as you like about what has brought you here today. Together, we will explore why you feel the way you do during certain situations. I will cover breathing techniques and possibly short meditations if necessary, and gently guide you through ways you can calm your mind and take control of your day and the way you respond in challenging situations all, in an effort to boost the way you feel about yourself and ulitimately make you a calmer, and happier person. An opportunity for you to speak to someone in confidence who will not judge you or force any form of opinion on you. This is a safe and understanding space.
Each 40-minute session will cost £37, or if you'd like to come a few times, I am happy to offer a discount if 3 or more sessions are booked at one time. Payment will be on the day or the day prior to your appointment, either by card or cash.
I will take some short notes, simply so I am prepared should you visit again.
I am happy to see people in their late teens, i.e 17/18 years of age up to any age.
Please note I have an enhanced DBS certificate that I will have on me at all times. If under 18, I ask the parent or carer to remain on site during the session.
‘’Your advice on techniques for panic attacks was particularly useful. Your talk clearly had a significant impact and provided the students with valuable tools to handle their emotions better.’’
BROOKSBY COLLEGE STUDENT TALK, OCT 2024.
‘’We took a great deal from your talk last night. I will use the STOP method frequently. Listening to you talk about the teenage brain and they aren’t supposed to have it all figured out was really helpful, I will use that with my daughter & my young members of staff.’ Jo. GADDESBY VILLAGE HALL MARCH 2025.

CHILDREN'S BOOKS -
THE SWIMMING LESSON & THE FOOTBALL GAME
My first children's book 'The Swimming Lesson' was released in Nov 2023. One of many I wrote over ten years ago. This first book follows Hattie age 5, and her new swimming lesson, suitable for children age 3+.
My second book in this Series, 'The Football Game' follows Billy, his dad, coach, and brother as he tackles his nerves and expectations of play well in his local football game. This new book is a full 32-page picture book, unlike 'The Swimming Lesson', a short story of 16 pages, hence the higher price.
These books promote well-being and confidence in young children.
All my books will aim to guide children through times of uncertainty, explaining to them that all children feel a little afraid or unsure at times and offering simple ways in which to cope or understand why they feel the way they do. There is a gentle thread of mindfulness throughout the book. A confidence-boosting, feel-good inspiring book for young children.
SCHOOL VISITS
I am happy to visit schools in the Leicestershire area, to read my books to primary school-age or older nursery school children. Books can be purchased on the day with prior planning. If you would like more information about my books, please contact me at quackmedia@hotmail.com
